Ask for a witnessed failover test

Disconnect the primary path during an agreed window. Record detection time, switch time, application recovery, session loss and return-to-primary behaviour. A dashboard saying “backup online” is not proof that the payment terminal or VPN works.

Questions people ask

How fast should business internet failover happen?

Set the target from the application and downtime risk. Some sessions can recover automatically; others require reconnection or user action. Test the actual firewall, DNS, VPN, voice and cloud workflows.

Should the backup use the same building entry as fibre?

That can preserve a shared physical failure. If route diversity matters, document the cable entry, local power and upstream dependencies instead of relying only on different provider names.

Can a UAE business use a residential Starlink plan?

Starlink’s published plan descriptions should be checked for the intended use. Do not select a household plan for business or enterprise work unless the current official terms explicitly permit it.
